'Sweet as' bro

Good vibes kiwi style

When arriving at the airport, New Zealanders welcome you with a smile and their easy-going attitude. This country is not a place where you encounter many travelling frustrations. Buses and trains run on time, roads are safe and in good shape and cash machines (ATM's) work even in remote areas. Yes, the kiwis, as locals call themselves, must be the most relaxed people in the world. This might be due to the sheer never-ending beauty and diversity of their country and nature, combined with the fact that people from different cultural backgrounds live peacefully together and identify with their (adopted) home country with a likeable pride. New Zealand and its people make it really easy, to fall in love with this place on earth. The trilogies of „The Lord of the Rings“ and „The Hobbit“ have made New Zealand famous around the world, and its movie- making, New Zealand has so much culturally to offer. The vibrant culture and customs of the Māori, countless possibilities sport activities, a magnificent cuisine and wonderful locally grown wine all offer to make New Zealand an utopia on earth. Adrenalin-lovers can jump from bridges or out of planes, or race over the river with the Shotover Jet boats. Te Rā Tours will be happy to turn even the craziest idea into reality. we can organise team building activities, wine tastings, pub crawls, a visit to sport events or concerts, a night on a farm, a BBQ at the beach - there are so many great experiences we can add to your itinerary. After our travellers have lived the „Kiwi lifestyle“, it is difficult to leave Aoteraoa, the "Land of the great white cloud“.

Dive into the Maori Culture

The Māori culture and language are an essential part in New Zealand’s everyday life. Place and Street names but also Māori words are used in the common language. The Haka, an impressive war dance, has made to international fame, thanks to the legendary national rugby team The All Blacks. Should you have the opportunity to experience the Haka anywhere in New Zealand, don’t miss out! The kiwis are nowadays more aware of their national heritage, thus you find an increased number of people attending Te Reo language classes. One centre of "Māoritanga" (Māori culture) is found in the North Island, especially in and around Rotorua. You can visit a wharenui (meeting house) with its marae, a centre for Māori social and cultural activity and learn about mythology and religion. if you are lucky, you can try a hangi, food cooked traditional style for hours in an earth oven. Most from our guides and drivers  Te Rā Tours are Māori. It is important for us, that our guests get to know the local people and their customs and culture at the grass-roots level. At the end of their journey, our guests can look back on unforgettable moments. Like an ancient Māori legend told by one of our guides when sitting at a bonfire on the beach or greeting a Māori with a Hongi, a traditional form of welcome. During the trip, our guests will learn a few words in Māori and understand the meaning of our company’s name.

New Zealand

A Heaven for Nature Lovers

Incredible diversity

It is not important whether you are a nature and wildlife lover when travelling to New Zealand - but chances are high that by the end of the trip you will become one! There is hardly any country in the world where you can go from high alpin mountain ranges to lush rainforests to wonderful beaches in the same day, and if you want, add a glacier or a volcano! About at third of New Zealand’s land is protected in parks and reserves, so nature is always at hand when travelling the country. On the North Island you can experience (and smell) geothermal activities up close. You can walk the most beautiful one-day-trek in the world (really!) - the Tongariro Crossing. The South Island has its own Alps with glaciers and breat-htaking fjords. With a bit of luck, you can encounter seals, sea lions, yellow - eyed penguins, dolphins, whales, orcas, albatrosses and many more unique bird species, such as the very curious mountain parrot Kea. 80 % of all plants are endemic. The forests are mostly dominated by different kinds of ferns, no wonder that one of them, the silver fern, has made it onto New Zealand’s national flag.

This country is very diverse, with breath-taking nature and a lively culture. We combine the ‘must – sees’ with unknown highlights on both islands. From the ‘City of Sails, along beautiful beaches to the thermal areas close to Rotorua in the centre of the North Island we continue our journey across the Cook strait and explore the stunning scenery of the South Island. We introduce you to the land, the people and go ‘off the beaten track’. You will have the opportunity to get to know the country also on foot, with the bicycle and by boat.
